IFTTT is a free web-based service – which is a few years old – and it is taking automation services to a whole new level. IFTTT allows people to create chains of simple conditional statements, called Applets. Each Applet is triggered by changes that occur within other web services such as Pinterest, Facebook, Gmail or Instagram.

IFTTT allows you to do more with the services you already love. With a free account, you have access to turn on Applets for over 400 services.

The company’s slogan is “Put the Internet to work for you.” The idea behind this new website and mobile app are to automate everything – from your favorite websites to app-enabled accessories to apps and smart devices.

What can IFTTT offer you?

Each month, over 1,000,000,000 Applets are run and at least one is waiting for you. Of the Applets available, there are:

For example, Applet will allow you to integrate your Instagram with several other apps, allowing you to easily save and share pictures. You can do things like:

With access to integrate your mobile devices and accessories, finance and payments, business tools and cloud storage you could even be able to access data such as the information stored in the cloud via your contactless smart cards.

As another example, you could even use IFTTT to automatically email readers back when they comment on your blog on WordPress.

There are numerous IFTTT combinations which can make your life easier and it will suggest these for you. These combinations are called “recipes” and each day the IFTTT app or website will suggest recipes for you to choose from. Once you have chosen to create a recipe, it will walk you through, step-by-step, on how to set it up.

And that’s all folks – you now know the basics to IFTTT. After all, it is free to sign up, so head on over and give it a shot! Your life is getting more complicated by the minute.
